Curriculum Overview
Our PK–12 curriculum is aligned to the Ohio Learning Standards in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Fine Arts, Physical Education/Health, Technology & Digital Literacy, Social-Emotional Learning, and Career & Technical Education.
Our curriculum is intentionally designed to prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and habits needed for success in college, the workplace, and active citizenship.
Cardington-Lincoln follows a continuous improvement cycle to ensure curriculum materials and instructional practices remain aligned with standards, student needs, and current educational research.
Instructional Approach
We use a district-wide explicit instruction model that includes clear learning goals, modeling, guided practice, independent learning, and meaningful feedback.
Explicit instruction means teachers clearly explain, demonstrate, and guide students step-by-step until they are confident and successful with independent practice.
Teacher-Based Teams (TBTs)—collaborative educator teams—analyze data, plan instruction, and adjust supports to meet student needs.
Assessment & Continuous Improvement
A balanced assessment system helps monitor student progress and guide instructional decision-making. Cardington-Lincoln uses:
- Formative (daily) assessments
- District assessments administered throughout the year
- State-required assessments
- Progress monitoring tools
Assessment data is used to strengthen instruction, identify areas of need, and measure overall student growth.
Support for All Learners
Through our Pirate Time and Academic Assist, all students receive the instruction and interventions they need to be successful. These structures help ensure students have time for skill-building, targeted support, and enrichment opportunities.
- High-quality Tier 1 instruction for all learners
- Targeted Tier 2 small-group interventions
- Intensive Tier 3 supports for students with significant needs
- Enrichment and acceleration opportunities for advanced learners
