Six Cardington-Lincoln FFA Students Named Proficiency Award State Finalists

THE RESULTS ARE IN!
This May, we will have students recognized at the Ohio FFA State Convention in SIX Proficiency Award areas as STATE FINALISTS!!
These students have been named as the state's top 4 agricultural finalists in their respective proficiencies. This qualitative award measures the work these students have invested over the past 4-5 years in their SAE projects.
PAYTON GOODMAN -
STATE FINALIST, NURSERY OPERATIONS
Payton worked all through high school under the supervision of Gale Slack at Singing Springs Nursery in Cardington. She has completed custom work for clients onsite as well as operating the greenhouse, propagating seeds, and helping clients select flowers.
SAGE WHETNALL -
STATE FINALIST, EQUINE ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Throughout high school, Sage has purchased neglected or turned away horses from auctions, and rehabilitated them using various physical and psychological practices, and then sold them to good homes with families or young showmen. Sage received her certificate in Equestrian Sports Massage Therapy in Indiana.
JUSTIN RADEL -
STATE FINALIST, DIVERSIFIED CROP ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Justin started in high school by working on his Grandpa Howard’s crop farm. After just one year, Justin started to secure his own land contracts. Justin now secures rental agreements and independently farms row crops on more than 65 acres.
MADY FRANKS -
STATE FINALIST, VETERINARY SCIENCE
Mady started in high school by volunteering at Maple Run Veterinary Clinic. After a couple of years, she became a paid employee and increased her duties of helping care for patients.
ALEXIS CRONE -
STATE FINALIST, AG PROCESSING
Alexis started with 3 bee swarms. She now cares for more than 9 swarms and processes several by-products in her two businesses, ABC Honey and Sweet Beauties. These by-products include honey, lip balm, beeswax, honeycomb, and pollen.

STATE FINALIST, AG COMMUNICATIONS
Along with her bee businesses, Alexis has partnered with and sought out mentorship from the Knox County Beekeepers Association and Ohio State Beekeepers Association. For these organizations, Alexis published newsletters and organized classes/presentations for current and future beekeepers.
ALEXIS CRONE -
DISTRICT WINNER, ACCOUNTING
With as many businesses and enterprises as Alexis runs, record keeping is a vital component to her success. Alexis is the top student in District 6 with her accounting and record keeping.
DREW ETGEN -
DISTRICT RUNNER-UP, DIVERSIFIED CROP PLACEMENT
For as long as he can remember, Drew has worked on and been involved with his family's 4th Generation family farm. Drew is involved in all aspects of the operation, from land management to crop planting/harvesting and beyond.
We are beyond proud of these students and cannot wait to watch them shine! ✨ They will interview with industry professionals on March 23 to secure their Final 4 Placing.
The district would like to congratulate these students on their accomplishments and wish them all the best at the Ohio State FFA Convention, and to thank Erin Wollett, Agriculture Education teacher and CL FFA Advisor, for the encouragement, positivity, and dedication that she provides to her students, empowering them to succeed!
