CARDINGTON-LINCOLN LOCAL SCHOOLS HOLDS COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY

Yesterday, June 2nd, Cardington-Lincoln Local Schools held its 128th Commencement ceremony in the Dr Lowell Murphy Gymnasium. The ceremony began promptly at 1:30 pm with the high school band, under the direction of John Brehm, playing "Pomp and Circumstance" by Sir Edward Edgar as the Class of 2024 entered the gymnasium. Sophia Goers, Junior Class President, then led those in attendance in the Pledge of Allegiance. A welcome was given by Interim Superintendent Steve Mazzi, followed by the introduction of Salutatorian Sarah Perry by Erin Wollett, CLHS Agricultural Education teacher and FFA Advisor. After Sarah's oration, Molly Clinger, CLHS English Language Arts teacher, introduced Valedictorian Genevieve Longsdorf. When Genevieve concluded her oration, the CLHS band, under the direction of John Brehm, played James Swearingen's "An American Portrait". Due to the illness of CLHS Principal Ron Williams, Kyle Baughn, CLLS Athletic Director, stepped in and presented the top ten academic students and recognized those students that would receive an honors diploma for exceeding Ohio's graduation requirements. A military recognition was then given by Steve Mazzi to all the veterans in attendance, which was followed by the announcement that two graduating seniors, Merek McClure and Owen Harris, would be enlisting in the armed forces. CLLS congratulates both and extends its deepest gratitude for committing to protect and defend our country!!!! The ceremony then shifted to the presentation of the diplomas, followed by the changing of the tassel, which was led by Senior Class President Zane Everly. The graduates then departed as the CLHS band played James Ployhar's "Fanfare and Recessional". CLLS would like to extend its warmest congratulations to the Class of 2024 and wish you all the best in your future pursuits!!!
