Scott Hardwick, Principal
My name is Scott Hardwick and I am a lifelong Pirate! I am a graduate of Cardington Schools and I reside in the community with my wife and two daughters. My family is actively engaged in our church and community where we volunteer to support Cardington programs in any way possible. We also love sporting events where I coach basketball and softball teams. I have college degrees from The Ohio State University, Mount Vernon Nazarene University, and Ashland University. I love learning and if able in the near future, I plan on pursuing my Doctorate Degree to further my studies. I love this community and the school system and I am so proud to call myself a Pirate!
Paige Riebel, Student Support Specialist
Welcome to the Counselor's Corner- I'm excited to have the opportunity to share information and great resources here with our Pirate families!
First, for those who may be unsure, I’d like to explain my role as the elementary student support specialist. For many of us, school counselors were referred to as "Guidance Counselors" while we were in school, and we tend to maybe only remember interactions with our high school counselor, at most, when we were scheduling classes and planning for life after high school.
But over time, we have come to realize how important it is to not only support our students academically, but also mentally, socially, and emotionally. Taken directly from the American School Counselor Association, “School counselors…help students succeed in school and plan their career…and form healthy goals, mindsets, and behaviors. With the aide of a school counselor, students learn to develop effective collaboration and cooperation skills, to practice perseverance, to develop time management and study skills, and to learn self-motivation and self-direction habits.”
Not only am I here to support students, I’m here to support families as well. If there is ever a way I can assist with resources, questions, or information, please don't hesitate to reach out. I look forward to connecting with you!
